Government Assistance Programmes for Infocomm Companies

In response to the global economic downturn, the Singapore Government implemented the Resilience Package to save jobs, enhance business capabilities and to ready our economy for continued growth and global competitiveness.

The Resilience Package comprises a myriad of programmes across all industries. To aid the Infocomm industry, IDA has compiled industry relevant programmes (new or enhanced) since Nov 2008. This gives Infocomm companies a quick glance of the available programmes offered by various government agencies that are specific and relevant to your needs.

Industry Development Programmes

  • Applications-on-Multi-Platforms Simplify (AMPlify)
    Since the launch of the Applications-on-Multi-Platforms Simplify (AMPlify) initiative in 2010 to strengthen the domain and technology capabilities of local mobile application developers and enhance their global competitiveness, it has groomed more than 40 developers in various mobile application development skill sets. In June 2012, IDA has enhanced the AMPlify initiative to focus on enterprise mobility, targeting to benefit more than 100 developers and 150 students in a year's time.
  • Infocomm Start-Ups Development Programmes
    IDA aims to create a vibrant start-up ecosystem that provides opportunities for all players, including local and foreign start-ups, investors, venture capitalists and talents. Through its programmes, it supports the growth of the ecosystem and builds an entrepreneurial hub for both Singapore-based start-ups to thrive.
  • Infocomm Singapore Brand
    "Infocomm Singapore" is the overaching brand identity that will be used to market and brand Singapore's ICT exports in external markets. The aim is to harness the infocomm capabilities of Singapore's enterprises under a unified brand and position them better for success in the global market.
  • Shared IT Services Hub
    As Singapore's infocomm authority , IDA aims to develop Singapore as a hub for high-end IT services, building on Singapore's strengths, for example, its next generation infocomm infrastruture and trusted hub status, and leveraging on opportunities in the key economic sectors. IDA supports the development of the local infocomm idustry through the creation of a vibrant infocomm ecosystem that promotes entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration. MNCs are welcomed (both infocomm and non-infocomm) to come and set up strategic high-end IT functions in Singapore.
  • Infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Programme (iLIUP)
  • Overseas Development Programme (ODP)
    The Infocomm Local Industry Upgrading Programme (iLIUP) and Overseas Development Programme (ODP) established since 1999 and 2002 respectively, promote strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships between iLEs and infocomm MNCs. Both programmes have fostered successful partnerships over the past 9-11 years, resulting in enhanced capabilities of iLEs, IP creation and market access.

    After 10 years, it is now timely to review both programmes to meet the changing needs and landscape of the Infocomm industry. As such, IDA will not be accepting new applications for iLIUP and ODP with effect from 1 April 2011.

Digital Media & Entertainment

  • The Digital Marketplace programme aims to put in place conducive environment, technical, business, financial and service infrastructure, to enable hubbing, management, trading, brokering and distribution of digital assets to be conducted in and through Singapore.

  • Trusted Digital Cinema Hub programme aims to establish Singapore as the secure trusted hub for the processing, management and distribution of digital cinematic content to Asia Pacific. It also aims to work with industry to put in place supporting infrastructure, such as processing facilities and network operation centres for Digital Cinema .

  • Connected Games Programme aims to establish Singapore as the leading regional centre for developing and distributing Connected Games content and services. We aim to work closely with industry players and industry associations such as the Games Exchange Alliance to set-up enabling platforms, level-up capabilities, and strengthen cluster eco-system.
